Individual consultations are available for any patient in need of a wig or head coverings. During a private consultation, GAP staff will assist in selecting and fitting. Staff will also provide instruction on cleaning and caring for the wig, as well as offer other options for wig supplies and professional styling. Information regarding community resources with similar free or low cost wig programs is also available. Appointments for a private wig fitting consultation at the GAP office may be scheduled between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. Out-patients are encouraged to coordinate their wig fitting appointment with clinic visits for their own convenience. Walk-ins also accepted. Additionally, the Wig Bank is now able to travel to all inpatient floors and the Cancer Center treatment areas for those patients who may have difficulty accessing the GAP office. The Wig Bank also maintains a large collection of donated scarves, hats, turbans and other head coverings, also free of charge to patients. All donated wigs and head coverings are thoroughly treated and washed before being made available through the Wig Bank. Infection control guidelines are also maintained at all times to insure comfort and well-being. The Wig Bank is conveniently located on the 2nd floor of University Hospital, near the Cashier's Office and Gift Shop. This service is made possible to patients through generous donations from hospital and community groups. Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation or donate a new or used wig to the Wig Bank Program may mail or drop off the donation to the GAP at the address below: Guest Assistance Program For more information about the Wig Bank Program, making a donation, or to schedule an appointment, please call 800-888-9825. |
