Getting back into the activities you enjoy can add to the quality of your life. Recreation therapy, also called therapeutic
recreation, is an intervention to support you in maintaining or acquiring healthy leisure outlets. A certified therapeutic
recreation specialist will assist you in identifying leisure outlets and pursuits, whether they are physical pursuits,
passive activities or ways to enhance your sense of being. The therapist will work with you individually to explore
activities and identify a plan that fits your current level of energy and interests. Recreation therapy can help with
rehabilitation, improving function, increasing independence and limiting the impact of illness or disability.
Devyn Baker, above with his dog Maggie, provides recreational therapy to help
