Please contact Patient & Family Support Services at 877-907-0859 no later than one week in advance of the tour session.
If it is necessary to cancel participation on the morning of the tour, please page Sheila Morris, Child Life Specialist at 734-936-6266; pager #5253. The paging service will prompt you to leave a call back number.
The program is for children ages 5 - 12 years. In addition to the tour, children are invited to say "Hello" to the Therapaw dogs, meet members of the medical team, participate in a fun art activity, enjoy refreshments and receive an award certificate. One adult family member must accompany their child or children throughout the program. The tour group will not visit areas where patient care is taking place.
A reminder about children visiting the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center
For the protection of other Cancer Center patients and visitors, children and adults should not attend the tour if any of the following are present:- a fever in the last 48 hours AND a sore throat, cough, headache or body aches
- a current fever
- a rash or skin sores
- pinkeye
- cough and/or cold symptoms
- vomiting or diarrhea
OR, if exposure to any of the following illnesses happened in the last MONTH:
- chickenpox
- rubella
- pertussis / whopping cough
- measles
- mumps
