Child & Family Life

Child & Family Life Specialists provide age-appropriate programs for children and teens that are educational, therapeutic and recreational, including:
  • Medical play and education to help young people understand and prepare for treatment related experiences
  • School re-entry visits to assist young people with academic concerns after diagnosis
  • Academic support by certified teachers during inpatient and outpatient care
  • Developmental play, arts and crafts
  • Educational and diversional computer activities
  • Music and art therapy sessions
  • Special celebrations and events
  • Social, supportive and informational gatherings for parents as well as access to the Patient Education Resource Center (PERC) and information on support groups
  • Periodic Sibling Day programs to examine the feelings associated with having an ill child in the family and to recognize siblings
  • Information on camp opportunities
