This request was received to the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center Web Page:

I am doing research on a book on cancer etiquette. I am a two time cancer survivor--multiple myeloma and breast cancer. In 7.5 years I've had some wonderful support. However, some people have said some very inappropriate things.

I think we need guidelines on how to speak to someone who has cancer, and what to do for someone with cancer. I'm collecting anecdotes, opinions, ideas for this project.

I'd love to hear from patients, caregivers, medical personnel, etc. Why is it that we have etiquette books on everything but cancer? I can be reached at Rklibrary@earthlink.net.

Thank you. Rosanne
