| Back in the summer time
while I was doing radiation, I was out doing my fieldwork.
I have to go out and measure all the new construction for
the mortgage company. It was at the end of the day and
I had one more site to look at and then it was back to the
office and home to "veg" out. I knocked on the lady's door,
but no one answered. I knew someone was home because there
were a lot of cars there. I thought, well I'll just go ahead
and do what I have to do. So I was out there taking my measurements
and sketching things out and the lady was kind of yelling
at the front door so I said just a second and I'll be there.
As I go to pick up my things, a tree branch catches my wig
and off my wig goes. I was out there laughing and I'm thinking,
"I hope none of the neighbors are out because they would just
totally flip." So I put my wig on hoping it was straight and
then laughed all the way back off to the office. I told my
office mates and they couldn't believe I was handling this
so well. It was just funny. I share this story with other
ladies when they are starting to go through treatment. There
are funny things that happen. It is not all horrible tragedy.
You can learn to deal with it. Kind of lightens everyone's
mood.
