The 2009 Fall Cancer Research Symposium offers:

Talks by five noted speakers whose research has greatly impacted the understanding of the biology, clinical management, or prevention of cancer featuring:

Where:  Kahn Auditorium in the Biomedical Science Research Building - Seminar Rooms A-C View map of Medical Campus (features the BSRB) PDF.

Martine F. Roussel, Ph.D., St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Dr. Roussel is the Wu Lecturer this year and will present "Critical Signaling Pathways in Pediatric Medulloblastoma"

Margaret R. Spitz, Ph.D., M.P.H., University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
Dr. Spitz will present "Lung Cancer Risk and Outcome: an Epidemiologic Approach"

Victor E. Velculescu, M.D., Ph.D., John Hopkins University School of Medicine
Dr. Velculescu will present "Integrated Genomic Analyses of Human Cancer"

Stephen B. Baylin, M.D., John Hopkins University School of Medicine
Dr. Baylin will present: "The Cancer Epigenome - What Are Its Origins and Translational Implications?"

William C. Hahn, M.D., Ph.D., Dana Farber Cancer Institute
Dr. Hahn will present: "Functional Genomics, Experimental Models and Cancer"

Although the orientation of the symposium will be directed toward the cancer problem, the material discussed at the symposium will likely be of great interest to individuals working in areas of molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and immunology, as well as in other clinical fields. Attendance is, therefore, encouraged from all University of Michigan faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students who have interest in the topics being discussed at the symposium.
