Table Talk, survivors' informal discussions, were held throughout the afternoon and covered topics such as: Nature as a Healer, Fatigue, Young Adults with Cancer, Healing Touch, Herbs and Nutrition.
Cancer survivors shared their joy at the fifth annual Cancer Survivors' Day Celebration sponsored by the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center. More than 300 survivors, families, friends and health care providers attended the event June 6 at Washtenaw Community College's Morris Lawrence Building in Ann Arbor.
Everyone helped to decorate butterflies that are brightening cancer patient areas in the U-M Medical Center. A Survivors' Art Display by local area artists who are cancer survivors featured mixed media by Anne Breiholz and Ginger Papania; oil paintings by Jane Coates and Frederick Ludwig, MD; photography by Suzie Kelsey; bead art by Suzannne Mahler; and teddy bears and hand-painted scarves by Donna Reynhout.
Walking the Labyrinth was a popular attraction at the celebration.
Community businesses supported the event by donating door
prizes and setting up information booths. Participants included:
Gilda's Club of Metropolitan Detroit, The Kroger Company of
Michigan, Falling Water Books & Collectables, Earth Wisdom
Music and Nicola's Books-A Little Professor Bookstore.
