U-M CCC - Progress Newsletter Summer 2003 Online
For a second consecutive year, Detroit Lions Pro-Bowler Robert Porcher and his wife Kim teamed with Style magazine to host Celebrity Stylemaker, presented by Huntington Bank, on Nov. 30, 2002, at Neiman Marcus in Troy. All proceeds fro this unique, contemporary event go to the Robert and Kimberly Porcher Cancer Research and Relief Fund. This special fund, established by the Porchers, helps to pay for expenses incurred by families whose children are undergoing cancer treatment at the U-M Cancer Center.
Never one to be satisfied with last year's "stats," Mr. Porcher was particularly pleased with the 2002 numbers, over $70,000 was raised for the Cancer Center, up significantly from last year's inaugural event.
Nearly 200 guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, previewed the latest jewlery and accessories, and enjoyed a private evening of shopping. This lively event received generous financial support from presenting sponsor, Huntington Bank.
The Celebrity Stylemaker is one of the many special events made possible by the University of Cancer Foundation (UCF), an organization founded in 1999 by Jay Alix of AlixPartnerws and Questor Partners Funds, and Steven J. Radom of the Imperial Group, Inc. The UCF's mission is to raise funds for and to build awareness of the Cancer Center as one of the nation's premier cancer institutions.
