On Sunday, June 8, 2003 the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center gave more than 400 cancer survivors and their families, along with health care professionals, a good dose of laughter at the annual Survivors' Day Celebration - Laughter: A Prescription for Life.

The world's only "Jollytologist", Allen Klein, hosted an interactive presentation; including an survivors rub noses indoor balloon/stress release, clown noses for all, and leading the audience in a one-of-a-kind "humor pledge."

hand-crafted gifts

Several local groups, from elementary schools and Girl Scout Troops to Cancer Center employees and the 4-H Club made sure that this year's celebration would be all smiles. They created silly hats and face masks with messages of hope as gifts for all the guests.

The day's activities also included a laughter session with the Pied Piper of Play, an information fair on survivorship issues, and a chance for people to have photos taken with some pretty funny "characters."
