The 60-mile walking route begins in the heart of the University of Michigan campus and concludes in the Metro Detroit area. Avon has sponsored these popular fund-raising walks for the past four years, and events from Los Angeles to Washington D.C. attract thousands of walkers. Each participant must raise at least $1,900. Organizers describe the event as, Accelerated life. Seventy-two hours and 60 miles into which all your hope, strength, generosity and love must be packed like a suitcase. Three days and two nights of proving yourself, of becoming a hero to all who know you and meet you along the way and a walking example to the whole world. Net proceeds from the Michigan walk will support non-profit breast health programs and state-of-the-art medical research on breast cancer in Michigan. |
