Candle for Hope and RemembranceThe University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center held a Candle Lighting for Hope and Remembrance on Friday, Sept. 21, under the front entrance canopy of the Cancer Center. More than 350 guests attended, including bereaved family members and friends, healthcare providers and cancer survivors. Beyond those who attended, families from throughout
The Voices of Healing choir performed, along with soloists and a bagpiper playing Amazing Grace. Guests brought small momentos and photographs of their loved ones that were displayed during the ceremony. Throughout the evening, photos of Everyday Heroes were displayed on video screens as reminders of the lives touched by cancer. Everyday Heroes - cancer survivors and those lost to the disease, researchers, health care providers, families, friends and caregivers - are the hope for a future where cancer no longer exists.
