According to Karen Hammelef, R.N., director of Patient Support Services, the Strength for Caring program teaches family members how to provide the comprehensive at-home care many patients with cancer require after hospitalization. The program also will help family caregivers cope with the emotional, physical and financial stress involved in providing that care, in addition to juggling the demands of family life and careers. For information about the free monthly classes, please call the Patient Education Resource Center at 734-647-8626. For additional information and resources on family member and caregiver support, vist the Patient Education Resource Center (PERC); or browse their on-line catalogue. |
