The event will take place Aug. 29 at the Marriott at Eagle Crest in Ypsilanti, and will feature Vic Hola, a registered nurse at the Cancer Center. Hola plans to discuss how to improve sexual function through physical activity, diet and weight management, and will share how stress, diabetes, blood pressure and prostate cancer impact sexual function. "There are many disparities in terms of men's health, partly because there is not as much research or as many health education programs on issues specific to men," says Aisha Langford, manager of the Community Outreach Program. Along with an emphasis on sexual health and the factors that play into it, the event will teach attendees about physical health and exercise. Eight fitness expo exhibitors will be on site to answer questions, give tips on becoming more active and share information about physical activity resources in Washtenaw County. The exhibitors include personal trainers, coaches, a health fitness specialist from MHealthy and a Tai Chi Master. Pete Thomas, a weight loss coach who will be in attendance, won season two of The Biggest Loser on NBC. Thomas lost 185 pounds on the show, and has kept it off since. The Men's Fellowship Breakfast is free, and will additionally offer free health screenings and door prizes, including tickets to the U-M football team's season opener, a personal training session and a gym membership. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required.
