From the Director of the U-M Comprehensive Cancer CenterWelcome to the first issue of the new U-M cancer e-newsletter. We are excited to share with you some of the important work happening here at the Comprehensive Cancer Center to advance the treatment of cancer. We plan to send the e-newsletter four times per year.
In this issue, you can read about our significant new discoveries in breast, prostate and pancreas cancers, as well as compelling new findings on melanoma outcomes. These are just a few examples of the groundbreaking research underway at U-M, but you can read more by clicking on the links at the bottom of each story.
We've also included an article about Bill and Dee Brehm and their wonderful endowment supporting our Music Therapy Program. Music therapy and the other programs that comprise our Patient and Family Support Services Program play a vital role in patient care. We are incredibly grateful to the Brehms for their commitment to music therapy and the cancer patients this program serves.
None the advancements you'll read about in this issue would be possible without the support of people like you. On behalf of the entire cancer community at U-M, thank you for your continued interest in our work and your support of our mission.
Together, we are conquering cancer.
Max S. Wicha, M.D.
