Gift in Kind

Purchase and donate -- or create and donate -- your gifts in kind are welcome here

Don't have the time to volunteer on a weekly basis, but want to help our patients?

U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center welcomes your interest in donating gift-in-kind items to our adult patients.

Please be aware of the following donation policies we must follow in accepting and distributing in-kind donations. All policies have been carefully and thoughtfully developed in consideration of patient safety, infection control procedures, attention to confidentiality and the comfort and consideration of all of our patients.

Be aware that donated items not meeting the criteria are passed on to other organizations in the community (Goodwill, etc.)

• All donation items must be new. We can only give our patients brand new items with store and price tags still attached. We cannot accept donations of used items.
  
  
• Due to patient safety and privacy, donors are not permitted to distribute gifts to patients and families, even during their own visits to the health center for appointments.
  
  
• All donations must be given to staff for distribution. We ask that items be dropped off at the Cancer Center Information Desk at the main entrance, Level B-2 lobby. Items are sorted, labeled and distributed to the appropriate area.
  
  
• Please keep in mind that hospital policy precludes us from allowing any form of business advertising; please no company business cards or business logo.

Hats

Cancer patients benefit from knit/crocheted hats during the winter to brimmed hats, caps and light weight knit during the spring and summer. Hats can be purchased or made. Hats should be made of soft fabric that will not irritate sensitive skin on the scalp. For infection control and patient skin sensitivities fabric must be new; no used donations please.
