The fund was established in remembrance of Coach Carr's mother, Pauline, who died of breast cancer. Q. Why is the Coach Carr Cancer Fund dedicated to patient care and wellness programs? Treatment of cancer goes beyond the disease. Patients and their families need information, support and recognition of the changes taking place in their lives. However, the Academy has a much broader mission: to teach women, and especially Moms, not only about the game of football but the benefits of the game (teamwork, work ethic, responsibility, etc.). Q. Is the Women's Football Academy the only fundraiser for the Coach Carr Cancer Fund? We are developing a steering committee of philanthropic leaders from around the state who will be organizing a variety of events to generate proceeds for the endowment.
