Prostate Cancer Survivorship Clinic

Comprehensive Cancer Center building The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center's Prostate Cancer Survivorship Clinic is designed to provide patients who have undergone radical prostatectomy with education, symptom management and recovery counseling following surgery.

The clinic offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment of incontinence and erectile dysfunction. It also provides screening for depression, anxiety and fears that may arise about your recovery. The frequency of visits and topics discussed are tailored to each patient's specific needs. The goal of our individualized care is to help you through all aspects of your recovery.

At each clinic visit, patients are asked to complete several questionnaires. This will provide important information to help guide your individualized care. We ask that you please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete these forms.

We encourage you to bring your partner to the prostate cancer survivorship appointment because recovery from the urinary and sexual side effects affects both of you. An open discussion with both partners can help overcome obstacles to recovering intimacy. If you do not have a partner, bringing a family member or a support person can be very helpful to the recovery process. We can provide privacy for a one-to-one discussion of sexual concerns when the support person is not a partner.

The Prostate Cancer Survivorship Clinic requires a referral from a surgical oncologist. Your physician will determine when the time is right for referral. For patient referrals, call 734-647-8903.
