Inflammatory Breast Cancer

Definition

When abnormal cells grow out of control, they are called cancers. Inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) is a rare, but aggressive type of breast cancer that carries a poorer rate of survival than other types of breast cancer. The cancerous cells move rapidly throughout the breast and clog the lymph vessels in the skin, causing the breast to look swollen, red, itchy or inflamed. It's often mistaken for a rash or infection and many women are initially treated with antibiotics or steroids.

Getting Diagnosed / Treatment
