Breast Cancer Treatment
Clinical Trials

One of the unique benefits of being a University of Michigan patient is access to the latest and most promising therapies for cancer. Our doctors are working hard to find cures, but they can't do it alone. Patients play a vital role by participating in research studies -- also known as clinical trials.

We now have a range of treatments that can cure or delay the progression of cancer for many years. This progress would not have been possible without the help of patients who volunteered for clinical trials. But there is still more work to be done.

Clinical trials are critical because they allow doctors to develop the most safe and effective treatments using a methodical, scientifically sound approach. Patients, meanwhile, receive the latest medicine has to offer while being carefully monitored by teams of experts who are leaders in their fields.

A nationwide shortage of research volunteers is slowing progress in the fight against cancer. And you can help. Talk to your doctor to decide whether a clinical trial is right for you.
