Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2008 Every year, the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center brings a large team of University staff, faculty, family, friends, fans and breast cancer survivors to walk and celebrate survivorship in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. This walk, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, raises funds for breast cancer research and support programs nationwide, including many vital efforts taking place at the U-M Cancer Center.

The 2008 Event

The 2008 walk, brought a total of over 3800 walkers to Gallup Park on the beautiful fall morning of October 18. A total of $307,550 was raised to go toward the breast cancer fight. Nearly 300 UM walkers participated, with 30 sub-teams raising over $12,200.

2009's Event

The 2009 walk will again take place at Gallup Park on Saturday, October 17th. Team organizing begins in July with a Kick Off Breakfast held at Kensington Court, Ann Arbor on Thursday, August 13. If you have questions about joining the U-M Cancer Center Community Champion Team, please contact Martha Laatsch at mlaatsch@umich.edu or 734-998-7074.
