The annual Ford Motor Company awards

The Partners in Health Award, recognizes exemplary patient care services and programs within the Cancer Center.

The 2006 Partners in Health Award recognized the Complementary Therapy Program, which offers a variety of lectures, classes, workshops and retreats for cancer patients and their families, as they face the stresses and challenges throughout the cancer journey.

The 2006 Ford Leadership in Health Award

Acknowledges the exceptional leadership and service of a UMCC physician or research scientist who has distinguished him/herself as a leader in cancer research and patient care. This year the award recognized David C. Smith, M.D., F.A.C.P., professor of Internal Medicine and Urology Medical Director at UMCCC's Clinical Trials Office, whose leadership has resulted in significant improvements in service to Cancer Center clinical investigators. Dr. Smith is also engaged in clinical research studies testing new therapies for prostate and bladder cancer.
