C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and Women's Replacement Hospital
The seed has been planted. And now it's time for the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and
Women's Hospital to spread their roots and grow to even greater heights in patient care, research and medical
education.
The new $523 million C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and Women's Hospital facility is designed to fit today's medicine and tomorrow's innovations. What is the impact of this new facility on the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center? The U-M has the largest pediatric oncology research effort in Michigan. Studies are ongoing to better understand genetic mechanisms underlying neuroblastoma, acute leukemia and brain tumors. Other studies are directed toward improving patients' own defenses against cancer. In addition, the Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program treats both children and adults and is staffed by full-time physicians who devote their entire medical practice to BMT patients. The new hospital will be home to both of these programs. In addition, there will be space for pediatric non-cancer infusion, with a dedicated infusion pharmacy on the floor. |
