Making Strides for Breast Cancer, 2003

You're Invited to Join the U-M Cancer Center Community Champion Team

The U-M Cancer Center is rallying a large team of University staff, faculty, family, friends, fans and breast cancer survivors to walk and celebrate survivorship. It’s always more fun to walk along with others who believe in the same cause.

So join us… don’t walk alone. Whether you are walking on your own or getting together with others to form a team, as part of the U-M Cancer Center’s Community Champion Team you’ll receive a free t-shirt (while supplies last).

Individual teams walking under the U-M Cancer Center “banner” will form their own “sub-teams” — create a fun team name, recruit members to your “sub-team” and raise dollars for the American Cancer Society (ACS). The ACS Web site has all the information needed to get started. You can even create your own home page for your “sub-team” and do your member recruiting and fundraising online.

Be sure to select the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center as your company team when you start a team.

Cancer Center Strides team members, 2003Through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, the American Cancer Society raises funds to support research and support programs nationwide, including many vital efforts taking place at the U-M Cancer Center.

Please join us at the Community Champion area on the day of the 3-mile walk (October 20, 8 am, Gallup Park) as we celebrate breast cancer survivorship and work to make breast cancer a thing of the past. A special Survivorship area will also be on site where survivors will gather and pick up their special pink t-shirts that they will wear as they lead the walk.

If you would rather show your support by donating to the American Cancer Society, click here and select one of the teams on our list to make a donation.

If you have questions about joining the U-M Cancer Center Community Champion Team, please contact Martha Laatsch at l mlaatsch@umich.edu.
