Annual Events

The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center has a variety of events intended to inform, support and uplift those impacted by cancer. There is something for everyone. We also have events intended to raise awareness about the mission of the UM Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Our Events page lists what's scheduled for the next two months. What follows are events or programs with regularly scheduled or annual events:

  • Candle Lighting for Hope and Remembrance - A yearly event held in early fall to remember and honor those who lost their struggle with cancer. This year, the Candle Lighting takes place on Saturday, October 10, 2009.
  • Making Strides Against Breast Cancer - A yearly event in October (held in association with the American Cancer Society) to raise awareness about breast cancer and money for research. This year's walk is October 17, 2009.
  • Survivors' Day - A yearly event with cancer survivors, along with family members and health care professionals, gathering to celebrate life. This year's event was June 7, 2009.
  • Women's Football Academy - This day filled with football, friends, and the amazing Michigan Wolverines took place Saturday, June 13, 2009. It supports initiatives within the Patient and Family Support Services Program.
