Dr. Alderman notes that only 20 percent of women choose reconstruction after surgery for breast cancer. USA Today has a circulation of 2.3 million. Sept. 14 -- Dr. Wicha in Parade magazine Max Wicha, M.D., Cancer Center director, was quoted in an article in Parade magazine about advances in breast cancer treatment. Dr. Wicha addressed cancer stem cells and gene-based treatments, which were two of the five topics highlighted. Sept. 11 -- Cancer stem cells in The Economist The cover article from this week's issue of The Economist features a story on cancer stem cells, including a reference to the groundbreaking work done by Max Wicha, M.D., Cancer Center director, and others at the Cancer Center. The article also discusses the ongoing research and clinical trials of a drug to target stem cells in breast cancer, which is a collaborative with U-M and Baylor College of Medicine.
