How to Spot a Fad Diet
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Don't be taken in by diets that promise cancer cures and
quick fixes.
Watch out for diets that describe certain foods as "good" or "bad." While it's true that some foods are healthier choices than others, it doesn't help to punish yourself for craving foods that fall into other categories. Don't detox. It can sometimes be dangerous to your health, and your body does a pretty good job of regulating itself on its own. Eating well shouldn't cost a fortune or come with a money-back guarantee. Be skeptical of diets that require you to purchase expensive supplements or books. Balance, variety and moderation are crucial. Avoid eliminating an entire food group or eating only one food item for a long period of time. |
