Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) Clinic

A multidisciplinary clinic and research unit dedicated to state-of-the-art patient care

The Multidisciplinary IBC Clinic provides patient care, education (of medical students, residents, fellows, other health care workers, patients), and research to improve the lives of patients with or at risk for IBC and to help cure and prevent inflammatory breast cancer.

The clinic provides consultation and treatment to:

A. Patients presenting with a red breast previously treated with antibiotics and/or steroids and/or non steroidal anti-inflammatory agents who need a biopsy

B. Patients presenting with a breast cancer diagnosis and some clinical signs of IBC seeking opinion as to whether they have IBC

C. Patients with IBC confirmed by another oncologist (surgeon, medical, or radiation oncologist) seeking an opinion on primary treatment

D. Patients under treatment who are not responding, seeking opinion on treatment options

E. Patients who have relapsed after known primary diagnosis of IBC, seeking advice on disease management

F. Patients who have relapsed after primary breast cancer therapy and the relapse comprises features of IBC (secondary IBC)

G. Patients with IBC being followed by other oncology colleagues at the UM register into IBC protocol
